Shining Stars of Europe is a Video Contest inviting people from all over Europe and beyond to express their ideas for the future in a short video clip. Every edition features a new theme. Shining Stars of Europe empowers young people by offering them a platform on which they can present their own ideas to large audiences.
The first edition was organised in the context of the European Citizen Dialogues, in close cooperation with the Representation of the European Commission in Luxembourg.
The second edition took place in the run-up to the European Parliament elections, and was organised in close cooperation with theRepresentation of the European Commission in Luxembourg as well as the Information Office of the European Parliament in Luxembourg.
The third edition was supported by a European Transnational Youth Initiative and organised in close cooperation with the Representation of the European Commission in Luxembourg as well as the Information Office of the European Parliament in Luxembourg.
The fourth edition was organised under the umbrella of the European Year for Development and was launched on 9 January 2015 in Riga. It was presented by the Latvian and Luxembourg Presidencies 2015 of the Council of the EU as well as the European Commission.
The fifth edition is co-organised by the European Commission and the European Parliament, in cooperation with the European Youth Conference under the Slovak EU Presidency 2016.
Three winners will be selected from the received entries and they will be entitled to the following benefits:
- Cash Prize: The winning video will get the cash prize of upto 5000 Euros.
- Travel Expenses: 3 winning projects will receive travel & project grants which will allow them to put their ideas into practice.
- An international Jury will select the 15 best video clips which will be shown at the finals in various countries between October and November 2016.
- All video clips will be featured on shiningstars.world and many of them will be promoted through the social media of the European Commission and the European Parliament.
