The Bath Children’s Novel Award is an international prize for emerging novelists.
For the purposes of this competition emerging novelists are defined as writers who are yet to accept an offer of publication for a novel which includes an advance (pre-publication) payment from the publisher.The competition is organised by Caroline Ambrose a Bath-based book columnist, public libraries campaigner, & regular chair for literary events.
Novels should be for children who are able to read for themselves, or young adults.
Novels must be your original work and in English.
Novels can be unpublished, self-published or independently published.
Submissions should include one document including (up to) the first 5,000 words of your novel followed by a synopsis of no more than 300 words.
The judge is literary agent Stephanie Thwaites of Curtis Brown.
Awards:- The winner will receive a cash prize of £3,000.
The prize for the writer of the most promising longlisted manuscript: the online course Edit Your Novel the Professional Way (worth £1,800) from Cornerstones Literary Consultancy.
