Eco-mobilier, the French eco-organization in charge of recycling and recovering used furniture, is launching a consultation dedicated to innovative projects developing technologies transforming materials from furniture, as well as to the diversification of operational sites for recycling and recovering used furniture. The aim is to identify and support solutions capable of improving the recycling of used furniture. This unique opportunity is open to all types of players, from the industrials transforming materials to the specialised research laboratory and innovative startup. The expected maturity of the projects must be less than 9 on the TRL scale to respond to this call for projects. If the solution has the industrial capacity to consume waste from used furniture immediately or after a development phase enabling it to go from a TRL 7 to a TRL 9 and you are able to offer a purchase price for this furniture waste, we invite you to tell us about your project on the website: consultation.eco-mobilier.fr
This consultation is open to all waste streams that make up furniture: wood, PU foams, latex foams, textiles, plastics…. but priority is given to projects offering solutions for wood recycling and recovery.
In fact, wood is the main waste stream in the furniture industry. It accounts for more than two thirds of the total waste stream and more than 85% of Eco-mobilier’s recycling performance through a single recovery solution: recycling into particleboard.
The volume of wood collected by Eco-mobilier will continue to increase and eventually reach nearly 650,000 tonnes annually. As a result, Eco-mobilier and the wood management industry are facing new challenges to ensure the proper recycling and recovery of wood.

Transformation of wood from used furniture to create a new recycled raw material
Your solution improves the quality of wood deposit thanks to the separation of the different materials composing a piece of furniture (fibers, particles, glues, coatings, etc.)
Recovery of wood from used furniture
Your solution offers new ways to integrate or recover wood from used furniture.
Transformation and recovery of other materials
Your solution treats or recovers other materials from the deposit such as latex, plastic, metal, etc.
