The Sony World Photography Awards are organised annually by World Photography Organisation and sponsored by Sony.
The Sony World Photography Awards features four competitions:
1/ Professional competition
All entrants must be over 18. Photographers must submit a minimum of five (5) and a maximum of ten (10) images and all submissions must be accompanied by a series description.
2/ Open competition
The competition is open to anyone. The Open competition rewards outstanding single images across ten (10) categories: Architecture, Culture, Creative, Motion, Landscape, Lifestyle, Natural World & Wildlife, Portraiture, Still Life, Object, Street Photography, and Travel.
3/ Youth competition
Photographers aged 12-19 are set monthly challenges. Each photographer can enter up to three single images answering the set challenge per month from July 2020 to December 2020. Judges will select up to 10 images per month, including one winner.
4/ Student competitionThe competition is open to all students of photography from World Photography Organisation’s selected Universities. All entrants must be aged between 18 and 30 years of age. Students are required to submit five (5) – ten (10) images responding to a brief. To enter, institutions must be registered and you must give your images to your tutor.
Awards:-
1/ Professional competition
• Photographer of the Year – $25,000 (USD) / Sony digital imaging equipment / Inclusion in exhibition at Somerset House, London.
• Category winners – Flights & accommodation to awards ceremony in London / Sony digital imaging equipment / Publication in winners’ book / Inclusion in exhibition at Somerset House, London.
2/ Open competition
• Open Competition winner – $5,000 (USD) / Sony digital imaging equipment / Flights and accommodation to the awards ceremony in London / Inclusion in exhibition at Somerset House, London.
• Category winners – Sony digital imaging equipment / Publication in winners’ book / Inclusion in exhibition at Somerset House, London.
3/ Youth competition
• Youth Photographer of the Year – Flights and accommodation to awards ceremony in London / Sony digital imaging equipment / Includsion in exhibition at Somerset House, London.
• Monthly judges’ selection – showcased on the World Photography Organisation website and Instagram account.
4/ Student competition
• Student Photographer of the Year receives €30,000 worth of Sony digital imaging equipment for his or her institution and inclusion in the Sony World Photography Awards Exhibition at Somerset House, London
• 10 shortlisted photographers receive flights and accommodation to the Awards ceremony in London, a range of Sony digital imaging equipment, publication in Sony World Photography Awards book and inclusion in the Sony World Photography Awards Exhibition at Somerset House, London.
