We are more than halfway through the fall semester at the University of New Haven, and as always, the health and safety of all members of our community remain our top priority. We have reimagined life at the University to help deliver high-quality education in as safe an environment as possible. This website will provide information about the University’s Phased Plan for Return to Campus and our ongoing efforts to prevent the spread of COVID-19.
Application Process:
- To be considered for one of our academic scholarship/">scholarships, all you need to do is apply for full-time undergraduate admission. If accepted, you will automatically be considered for an academic scholarship.
- Award decisions will be based upon your academic credentials at the time of your admissions decision.
- Students must have a completed application for admission on file by May 1 for the fall semester or January 1 for the spring semester in order to be considered for an academic scholarship.
- Awards are based upon the availability of funds.
The following are awarded at the discretion of the University of New Haven and, unless otherwise noted, require no special application. Students who qualify for these scholarships will be notified by the Office of Undergraduate Admissions at the time of their acceptance to the University.

Multiple scholarships have different values as mentioned below
Presidential Scholarship
($20,000 – $24,000 per academic year)
A student who has achieved academic success in high school and on the SAT or ACT is considered for this scholarship. The Presidential Scholarship varies depending on the combination of the applicant’s SAT/ACT score and cumulative GPA. Awards range from $20,000 – $24,000 per academic year.
The Presidential Scholarship is guaranteed for your first year and renewable each year provided you remain a full-time undergraduate student while maintaining satisfactory progress towards a bachelor’s degree and a B (3.0) cumulative grade point average. It is renewable for up to a maximum of eight semesters and applied only to tuition.
Distinguished Scholar Awards
($15,000 – $18,000 per academic year)
Students who have achieved academic success in high school but have not achieved the SAT or ACT requirements for the First-Year Presidential Scholarship are eligible for this award. The Distinguished Scholar Award varies depending on the student’s SAT or ACT score and GPA. The award ranges from $15,000 – $18,000.
The Distinguished Scholar Award is guaranteed for your first year and renewable each year provided you remain a full-time undergraduate student while maintaining a required minimum GPA and satisfactory progress towards a bachelor’s degree. It is renewable for up to a maximum of eight semesters and applied only to tuition.
Charger Award
($10,000 – $14,000 per academic year)
This award is presented to students who exhibit strong and consistent academic performance, but do not qualify for one of the other academic awards (Presidential and Distinguished Scholarships). This scholarship is awarded by the Scholarship Committee of the Office of Undergraduate Admissions.
The Charger Award is guaranteed for your first year and renewable each year provided you remain a full-time undergraduate student while maintaining a required minimum GPA and satisfactory progress towards a bachelor’s degree. It is renewable for up to a maximum of eight semesters and applied only to tuition.
