We are a major insurance company in the US (think Geico, Progressive, State Farm, etc.). In this challenge, we are looking for innovative ideas to use smart-home technology to keep families and pets safe and reduce insurance claims that disrupt everyday life. As an example, a popular product that is widely used by consumers is a plug-in device called Ting that helps prevent electrical fires before they happen and shares information to your insurance provider. This helps assess customers’ home fire risk, and safe homes are rewarded with lower insurance premiums.
We want you to translate this type of technology into home safety and create a smart-home product that not only anticipates needs, but also actively protects homeowners from danger. This could be a product that is integrated with your smoke detectors, security systems, HVAC systems, or anything similar.
