New idea contest on desall.com: Bormioli Pharma and Desall invite you to develop augmented reality solutions aimed at revolutionising the administration of medications packaged in vials and rigid bottles.
At Bormioli Pharma, we design and manufacture pharmaceutical packaging systems that reach millions of patients worldwide every year. With 9 factories across Europe and over 1,400 dedicated employees, we proudly distribute our products to more than 100 countries.
We see ourselves as a “start-up” with over a century of experience, originating from a historic industrial background and becoming an independent company in 2017. This unique position allows us to be both stable and dynamic. In recent years, we have consistently invested in enhancing our production capabilities, acquiring new businesses, and, most importantly, driving growth through innovation.
Embracing this spirit, we have developed our own Open Innovation model, a system that promotes skill-sharing and external collaboration in our processes. We firmly believe that collaboration fuels change and that fresh ideas have the power to improve people’s lives.
What we are looking for
Bormioli Pharma is seeking augmented reality (AR) solutions to offer users an array of multimedia content related to medications in rigid packaging by recognising specific elements (e.g., a QR code or the packaging itself). We are particularly interested in solutions for:
Injection vials
Syrup bottles
Pill bottles
Ampoules with drip administration for ophthalmic or oral care
Guidelines
To ensure the successful implementation of your proposals, please consider the following guidelines:
Product Type
You are invited to design AR solutions integrated in a dedicated app aimed at innovating drug intake and packaging use through a variety of multimedia content. Specifically, the AR solutions and app should be able to:
Minimise the risk of errors or misunderstandings related to the packaging’s functionality.
Enhance safety when taking the medication (dosage, administration method, etc.).
Boost active participation and adherence to patient care.
Strengthen patient confidence in the treatment.
Share educational, informative, and historical content about conditions, treatments, pharmaceutical companies, etc.
Display all information related to the medication found in the package leaflet (leaflet).
Further suggestions for additional AR features are welcome, with the overall aim of making the use of medications within the packaging easier, safer, and more enjoyable.
The app may incorporate software that recognises packaging, text, brand names, or other content on the packaging, activating the augmented reality elements without necessarily requiring or scanning a specific tag.
Inclusion of commercial features within the app is permitted, such as the option to repurchase the medication.
