The competition is organized by Café Writers, a literary organization based in Norwich, England. You may submit poems of up to 40 lines. Entries must be your own original work and in English. Entries must never have been published, self-published, published on any website or broadcast.
- Closing date for receipt of entries: 14th November 2022
- The maximum length for each poem is 40 lines excluding the title. Breaks between stanzas do not count towards the total of 40 lines
- The Prize is open to anyone other than Café Writers committee members.
- Entries must be entirely the work of the entrant and must never have been published, self-published, published on any website or broadcast.
- We regret that entries cannot be returned.
- Entries must be in English.
- Each poem should be sent as a separate document [if entering by email] or start on a separate page [if entering by post] and have no identifying marks other than the title.
- No corrections can be made after receipt, nor fees refunded.
- Worldwide copyright of each entry remains with the author, but Café Writers will have the unrestricted right to publish the winning poems on its website and in competition publicity.
- The Norfolk Prize is awarded to a permanent Norfolk resident, for a poem not winning another prize.
- The judge’s decision is final and no individual correspondence can be entered into.
Entry implies acceptance of all the rules. Failure to comply with the entry requirements will result in disqualification.
Receipt: Cafe Writers attempts to acknowledge all email entries, although these can get caught in your spam filter – adding our email address to your contacts should prevent this. Postal entries can enclose a stamped addressed postcard marked ACKNOWLEDGEMENT.

Make your Poem Document[s]
Save each poem as a separate Word document or PDF. We would like the font to be 12 point Times New Roman, single spaced in black. Pages should not be numbered, there should be no colour, pictures or borders used.
Please label the document with the title of your poem only [eg. poem_title.doc]. DO NOT include your name, address, or other identifying marks on the document – this information goes in your covering email.
To claim your Free Entry
for poets on a low household income please send this as a separate entry on a separate email, to any other entries you might send. Attach the document of this poem to an email marked with your name and ‘Concession’ in the subject box.

We are offering the concession of a free entry of one poem to any UK resident with a household income of less than £16,000 for whom the cost of entering would be prohibitive.
