Make our customer’s heart beat faster Marseille Provence, 2nd regional airport in France
Ideally located between Marseille and Aix-en-Provence, the airport gathers on its grounds all the treasures of Provence, one of the most popular destinations in France.
Between its southern side – on the sea side – open to a Mediterranean lagoon, and its northern side – on the land side – overlooking the verdant ochre hills that are typical of our region, the journey to the heart of Provence begins as soon as you set foot in the airport.
In 2022, Marseille Provence airport welcomed more than 9 million passengers from and to over 100 destinations with direct flights to Europe, the Mediterranean region, Africa and beyond (Indian Ocean, Canada).
Inaugurated in 1961 to the designs of Fernand Pouillon, the great architect of post-war construction in Marseille and in particular the Vieux Port frontage, the current Terminal 1 is a legacy of the airport’s history that has not undergone any major transformation for 30 years.
In order to adapt to international standards of reception and efficiency, the “Coeur d’Aéroport” project will expand the surface area of the current terminal 1 to offer an enriched experience and a simplified journey, in a setting adorned with the colors of Provence.
Designed by architect Norman Foster and inspired by his shade structure installed 10 years earlier on the quay of the Vieux Port in Marseille, this “Cœur d’Aéroport” must be able to create emotion and offer a unique and memorable experience to travelers landing in Provence.
