Diesel forklifts currently rely on mechanical or hydraulic braking systems with minimal electronic control, making it difficult to integrate automatic braking features. Unlike electric forklifts, they lack native electronic interfaces for sensors or actuators.
The challenge is to develop a reliable, retrofit-capable pedestrian detection and emergency braking system that can automatically stop the forklift when a pedestrian is detected, thereby preventing serious injuries or fatalities.
The solution must function effectively in harsh industrial environments with dust, poor lighting, cluttered layouts and rainy seasons , ensuring accurate detection and minimal false triggers. It should also be compatible with the limited electrical infrastructure of diesel forklifts, using an independent or auxiliary power source if required. Additionally, the system must meet industrial safety standards, offer fail-safe operation, and ensure smooth braking without affecting productivity or equipment reliability.
Awards:- Reward money is paid in exchange of legally acquiring the solution, implementing it to solve the problem and meeting the success criteria. Milestones for paying the reward money would depend upon the complexity of challenge and maturity of the proposed solution, which would be discussed with the solver as soon as the proposed solution is selected by us.
