Multi-tasking is a way of life for many, causing us to seek moments when we take a break from the busyness of everyday life. No matter what is occupying you; home tasks, kids, paid work or getting educated, we all seek that small break in the afternoon. We often use those moments when we seek a bit of respite from the busyness to pick up our phone, laptop or tablet and reconnect with others virtually. Messaging, social media, WhatsApp groups, YouTube videos and emails: they are all moments for digital connection that often form part of a ‘break’ from our work or study.
This is often also a moment to enjoy a sweet treat to help mark the transition from your focus activity such as work, homework, study to a moment of relaxation and gets us into a different headspace. It can signal a change of pace from focused work to something a little different and easier going. Sometimes it can be tricky to manage holding a phone or tablet or typing on a keyboard whilst enjoying your favourite sweet treat or snack.
