Inspiring the Outstanding Scholarship

KU Leuven is committed to making higher education accessible to students from all backgrounds, regardless of their financial circumstances. Therefore, the University has established a fund for donations from the global KU Leuven community to award scholarship/">scholarships to outstanding students who wish to pursue one of our programmes.

The scholarship is based on the university’s baseline ‘inspiring the outstanding’, which reflects KU Leuven’s mission and ambition and emphasising its commitment to fostering excellence and innovation. This baseline underscores the university’s dedication to:

By establishing a scholarship, the University hopes to support and inspire talented students to make a tangible contribution to their field of study.

Eligible programme(s)	Consult eligible Master’s programmes here Students who enrol in the following programmes for the academic year 2025-2026 are not eligible for the Master Mind Scholarship/">Scholarships: preparatory programmes, bridging programmes and distance learning.
Eligible nationalities	All nationalities are eligible
Academic requirements	The student has a high standard of academic performance and potential. Excellent study results are reflected in a high Grade Point Average (GPA), as mentioned on the transcript of records. The previous degree(s) should have been obtained at a higher education institution outside Flanders. International students who have completed a credit mobility at a host Flemish higher education institution are still eligible for an Inspiring the Outstanding Scholarship.
Language requirements	Applicants whose first language is not English must demonstrate a good knowledge and command of English, regardless of the minimum score required by the programme. Accepted English language tests are: Online TOEFL (Test of English as a Foreign Language): minimum overall score of 94 IELTS (International English Language Testing System): minimum overall score of 7 Cambridge CPE (Cambridge Proficiency English): minimum level C2 The language test must be taken before the 15 January application deadline. Language test results can be added after the deadline. Students who have previously completed an English-taught programme in Australia, English-speaking Canada, Ireland, New Zealand, the United Kingdom and the United States of America do not need to submit a certificate of English language proficiency.
Disqualifying conditions	Current enrolment: Students who are already enrolled at a Flemish higher education institution are not eligible. The only exception is for international students who, at the time of their scholarship application in the spring of 2025, are enrolled in a specific preparatory programme in order to start their Master’s programme in September 2025. Other scholarships: Students may not combine the Inspiring the Outstanding Scholarship with any other scholarship.

Awards:-

Tuition Fee Waiver: Full waiver of the tuition fees for the duration of the master’s program.
Living Expenses: The scholarship provides up to €10,000 per year to cover living expenses.
Health Insurance: Coverage for health insurance is included as part of the scholarship benefits.
Unrestricted Research Opportunities: Recipients have the freedom to explore diverse research topics without specific restrictions, encouraging innovation and creativity across various fields of study.
Additional Support: Depending on the program, the scholarship may also cover lab and travel costs, supporting academic and research endeavors.
