This Challenge is designed to strengthen the future of American shipbuilding and maritime readiness, aligned with the U.S. Navy’s modernization priorities and advanced manufacturing strategy.
This Challenge is supported by a $50,000 funding program with which to connect and identify scalable solutions that strengthen lifecycle efficiency, expand production capacity, and improve operational readiness across the maritime ecosystem.

- Coatings and Surfaces
- Advanced Machining and Joining
- Robotics and Automation
- Sensing and Measurement
- Non-Destructive Testing (NDT)
- Characterization and Visualization
- Modeling, Simulation, and Design
- Digital Twins and Smart Shipyards
- Digitalization and Connectivity
- Other key manufacturing innovations
Some of the most impactful projects may come from adjacent fields that do not traditionally consider themselves within shipbuilding or maritime, including non-traditional innovators, advanced manufacturers, defense stakeholders, and other technology leaders.
This Challenge is designed for organizations, who are invited to apply. Applicants can be based inside or outside of the US – subject to eligibility requirements on Tech Connect’s site.
