With Sheridan College Reimagine Learning and Education in our Communities competition we address How might we collaborate within our communities to reimagine learning and education so that no one is left behind and all youth and adults can realize their full potential?
The global scale and depth of change and disruption in 2020 has touched every aspect of our lives. The COVID-19 pandemic, social justice awakening, calls for action on climate change and demonstrations to uphold Indigenous rights have underscored inequities within our communities and the imperative to build resilience – individually and organizationally.
We are at an inflection point – one that requires all of us to step up and help find ways to address societal inequalities, amplify voices from underrepresented communities and action change that builds resilient individuals and communities.
We’ve designed a challenge that requires your voice, experience and ideas.
Alongside engaged participants and community partners, we’re here to facilitate brainstorming, dialogue, ideation and meaningful action on the question:
Improving access to learning and educational opportunities means helping everyone realize their potential. It is foundational for improving lives and fostering sustainable development. To confront the challenge of reimagining learning and education, we must acknowledge that the ways and things we learn, and their intended outcomes – as well as who makes these decisions – have direct and long-term impact in all areas of society.
The challenge takes place in three stages – Inspiration, Ideation, and Iteration. Learn more about what’s involved in each stage under Challenge Details
We’ll be partnering with organizations to provide mentorship and guidance to participants throughout the Ideation and Iteration stages. More than $60,000 in cash prizes are available for participants whose contributions are selected as exceptionally innovative and impactful.
Now is the time to reimagine a different role for learning and education in our lives. You can be part of the disruption and change before us in 2020 in a way that’s meaningful, constructive, and inclusive.
This challenge relies on a range of voices to build solutions that impact diverse populations. We need participants to bring their empathy, creativity, problem-solving and forward-thinking at every stage.
We hope you’ll take up the Reimagine Learning and Education in our Communities Challenge, hosted by Sheridan College. Your mission We invite you to share your perspectives, experiences, ideas or solutions that could help re-imagine learning and education through a lens of inclusivity.
We want to hear from everyone – no matter your level of education, experience or background. We encourage you to use this opportunity to share your vision and have your voice heard. Our challenge question is: How might we collaborate within our communities to reimagine learning and education so that no one is left behind and all youth and adults can realize their full potential?
To catalyze new ideas, all submissions to the challenge in all stages will be public. This way, we can build on each other’s perspectives and spark new thinking to transform learning and education across Canada and around the world.
