The competition is hosted by the Ino-cho Paper Museum, a museum of Japanese traditional paper based in Ino, Kochi Prefecture, Japan.
“ Kochi Prefecture is renowned for its top quality Tosa Washi – a type of hand made artisanal paper. To help spread this valuable cultural asset to the world, the home of Tosa Washi, Ino Town, is hosting the 13th Kochi International Triennial Exhibition of Prints.
We extend an invitation to participate to all artists to make prints using paper as a canvas. We especially encourage the use of Tosa Washi!
Eligible works: Submissions must be original 2D prints on PAPER produced after 2024.
Exclusions: Works created wholly or partially using generative AI (including both image and text generation) are ineligible.
Size: The paper size must not exceed 100 x 100 cm (40 x 40 inches).
Number of entries: Artists may submit a maximum of three works.
Condition: Works must not have been previously selected or awarded in other public exhibitions.
Awards:-
• First Prize: 1,000,000 yen
• Second Prize: 500,000 yen
• The Museum of Art, Kochi Prize: 300,000 yen
• Takao Hiwasaki Prize: 300,000 yen
• Tosa Washi Prize: 200,000 yen (plus approx. 100,000 yen worth of Tosa Washi paper)
• Excellence Award: 200,000 yen
• Honorable Mention Award: 100,000 yen
