When we think of fashion, we often think of form. That is to say, the word conjures up visions of sleek, modern, high-end design. We imagine models strutting down a Paris runway or expensive boutiques. But fashion is also about function and utility. Fashion has always been pioneering in the use of innovative tools, materials and techniques. It is hardly a coincidence that one of the earliest precursors to modern computing was the Jacquard weaving loom.
For the Make it Wearable Challenge we want you to consider how you can use contemporary technology to make new, innovative and fashionable items. For example, one could make a garment using new technologies, an accessory like a smart watch, or a wearable device to enhance human abilities.
To enter, submit an Instructable that shows how you made a wearable object that incorporates modern technologies. Include your concept sketches, renderings, design files and step-by-step instructions for creating it. It would be particularly helpful if you could show off its functionality in a short demo video.
Requirements
- Submit a step-by-step Instructable showing how you design and build something that is wearable.
- Include photo documentation of your completed build.
- Participant must be a student enrolled in high school or a post-secondary institution, and in good standing.
