Develop a new, innovative idea for a cookie-based treat that is playful, indulgent and answers one or more key consumer needs.
Cookies: an enjoyable, indulgent and exciting treat for many!
Cookies offer a lot of benefits to consumers: they are tasty, can give comfort, can improve one’s mood, can give an energy boost, can be something to look forward to, can be something that can be truly enjoyed, etc.
Although they may be in the same category as biscuits, ‘real cookies’ are different. Compared to biscuits, cookies are generally crunchy on the outside, gooey in the middle, more indulging, round and rough (not perfect), soft and chewy and have inclusions such as chocolate chips, nuts, fruits, etc.
There’s never a bad time for a cookie, and the demand for a good cookie is always there. However, they’re not always as accessible as we want them to be. Fresh cookies can go stale too quickly to stock up at home so we tend to buy supermarket cookies as an available treat.
Finding the right cookie is tricky, being limited to your local supermarket bakery (which may not have your favourite) or having to travel to a specific store can be inconvenient at best. A cookie or cookie-based treat that you can buy in the supermarket, that ticks all (or most) of the boxes and feels just as special and exciting as a fresh-baked cookie would be ideal!
The company behind this research is a large manufacturer of biscuit and cookie products which are mainly sold in supermarkets. For biscuits, they have already launched a lot of innovations to the UK market, and now they are looking to do the same for cookies.
They want to bring new cookie-based treats to the market that are playful and indulgent – that’s where we need your help?
